Group Hotel Bookings

You’re about to send your invites and already you’re getting questions from family and friends asking where out of town guests should stay. Let’s walk through some options for how to best handle guest accommodations for your wedding.

You have several options for how to handle accommodations for guests traveling to your wedding:

Option 1: Guests book on their own

You can do nothing! You are under no obligation to make travel arrangements for your guests. If you don’t have very many guests traveling, or are short on planning time, you can direct guests to popular travel booking sites like Expedia or Airbnb. Or you can list a local travel agent on your wedding website as a resource (like me!). I’m always happy to help family and friends find the right hotel at their price point.

Option 2: Wedding Room Block

You can make arrangements for a discounted rate at a nearby hotel.

If you know a good amount of your invitees will be traveling to your wedding from out of town (enough to fill at least 10 hotel rooms) then securing a discounted room rate is a great gesture to make travel easier and more affordable for these guests! Often times hotels will be willing to offer a group discount of 10% or more and may even throw in a free upgrade for you and yours for the night of your wedding.
